17 March 1861: 156 years ago the unification of Italy
Was the 17 March of 1861 When, during the session at Palazzo Carignano, the new Parliament called for the first time "Italian", enacted the law. 4761 of the Kingdom of Sardinia, which reads: King Victor Emmanuel II assumes for himself and his successors the title of King of Italy pei. He was born so, at least legally, the Kingdom of Italy, based on a common identity to all the Liberals who had fought bitterly during the Risorgimento: the Italian nation.
