Finnair offers "air-to-rail" in Saint Petersburg with VR
Milan, 29 September 2014. Finnair and the Finnish rail VR operator are collaborating to offer their customers the ability to purchase combined tickets "air-to-rail" for use between Saint Petersburg and international Finnair destinations connected via Helsinki.
Combined tickets will guarantee to all types of travelers flying through the Finnair network in Asia, Europe and North America fast connections from and to St. Petersburg with the new high-speed Allegro train, employing 3 hours and 36 minutes to link the Russian city of Helsinki central station. This new solution will be sold by the Finnish flag carrier starting from 1 October 2014 While the first connection with the Allegro train will be operated on the 1 December 2014.
Cooperation between Finnair and VR will ensure a great time savings to passengers, since customs procedures and those related to passport control will be carried out directly on the train, during the trip.
The new intermodal tickets will make a stopover in Helsinki, giving the opportunity for visitors to explore the region of the Finnish capital without any hurry. Cooperation between Finnair and VR will also allow to make an online reservation for the entire trip, making it in the best way the booking stage.

The cheapest solution is the transfer by the Finnair City Bus, departing from Helsinki central station every 20 minutes.
