Rolls-royce announced today that Airbus chose the new engines Trent 7000 for the new generation A330 aircraft, the A330neo. The Trent 7000, the seventh version of the successful Trent engine family, will be the only engines available for this new aircraft.
The new Trent engines 7000 gather the accumulated experience with engines Trent 700 – the current A330 operating – the engine architecture Trent 1000-TEN – latest version of Trent 1000 – and the latest technologies of Trent XWB. With a boost from the 68 and the 72 thousand pounds, the Trent 7000 will provide operators with a significant improvement in performance and cost-effectiveness over existing Trent 700: for example will improve fuel consumption by about 10%, noise emissions will be halved and will bypass ratio.
The President and CEO of Airbus, Fabrice Brégier, commented: “the new A330neo is a logical evolution of our reliable and versatile family of A330 aircraft. Provides an easy solution for airlines around the world that seek to minimize operational costs and providing fuel, at the same time, the best comfort to their passengers. We see a strong market potential for A330neo and we are confident that this new plane will be a success in the medium-haul segment. The Rolls-Royce Trent engines 7000 combine world leading experience and cutting-edge technologies that will play a vital role in ensuring the success of this new aircraft for decades to come.”
