South African Airways (SAA) Tip on growing African network and improvement of links within the continent. With over 80 years of operation and a top position in the field of air transport in Africa, SAA plays a crucial role in guiding air traffic growth and economic development of the continent.
Nico Bezuidenhout, Acting Chief Executive of South African Airways, at the IATA Annual General Meeting in Miami emphasized the determination of SAA to expand the service to an increasing number of destinations in Africa.
"Our goal is to increase the turnover of the region 30% over the next twelve months. Africa is a huge market and potential for aviation and, as a historical African company, We hope that the continent will contribute the current 3% at the global level,” said Bezuidenhout.
SAA is strengthening its position in West Africa with the launch of a new link between Accra, Ghana, and Washington, D.C., United States. Starting from 3 August 2015, SAA will offer the only nonstop flight between Ghana and Washington.
