Over 3,000 UK-based Airbus workers to strike for 10 days next month
Over 3,000 Uk-based Airbus employees will strike next month for a total of 10 days after members of the Unite union voted “overwhelmingly in favor” of industrial action.
Unite confirmed on August 20, 2025, that aircraft fitters and engineers at Airbus will down tools for 10 days in September 2025 over a three-week period.
Strikes will take place on September 2 and 3, 2025, followed by September 10 and 11, 2025. Additional strike days from September 15, 2025, will be “dependent on-site specific shift patterns”.
Industrial action centers around pay with Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham accusing Airbus of treating workers unfairly.
“Airbus is generating billions in profit; workers deserve a fair deal. Our members are simply seeking fairness not favors. Airbus workers have the total support of their union in this dispute, said Graham.

“Strike action will disrupt production of wings for Airbus’s core commercial and military aircraft programs, delay deliveries and put pressure on the global supply chain,” added a Unite spokesperson.
Members are asking for Airbus to return to talks and for a pay increase that “accounts for inflation and real cost-of-living increases”, “reflects the value of members’ highly specialized skills” and “enables Airbus to deliver reliable, world‑class aircraft on schedule”.
“The pay offer simply doesn’t reflect the money Airbus is making or the current cost of living crisis. We remain ready to negotiate, but we won’t allow our members to be short changed. If Airbus won’t return with a better offer, we’ll be on picket lines in September,” said Unite National Officer Rhys McCarthy.
Unite members at the Airbus facilities in Broughton, in Wales, and Filton, near Bristol, were balloted on June 30, 2024, regarding industrial action following a series of pay offers.
Workers at Broughton and Filton work on wing production for the Airbus A320 family, A330, A350 and A400M military transport aircraft.
