Etihad reports 32% profit growth in H1 2025, airline calls it record half-year
Etihad Airways has announced that it experienced a 32% rise in profits during the first half of 2025, calling it its strongest-ever half-year performance so far.
In its financial results, published on September 3, 2025, the airline stated that these results “showcase continued momentum in network expansion, operational efficiency, and enhanced customer experience”.
“We are expanding sustainably, investing in premium experiences, and bringing record numbers of visitors to Abu Dhabi through our growing network,” said Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airway, commenting on the results.
Profit after tax reached $306 million (AED 1.1 billion), representing a 32% increase on the same period last year. At the same time, total revenue grew by 16% compared to the previous year.
According to Etihad, this growth was driven by “vigorous customer demand, productivity and efficiency gains, and improved yields across both passenger and cargo segments”.
The airline’s EBITDA increased by 24% year-on-year to $739 million (AED 2.7 billion), and the EBITDA margin rose to 20%.
Etihad said that it carried 10.2 million passengers in the first half of 2025, a 17% increase on the previous year, supported by a 14% rise in Available Seat Kilometers (ASK) and a better passenger load factor of 87%.
Etihad milestones so far in 2025
In July 2025, the airline reached the milestone of carrying 20 million passengers over the previous 12 months. During the same month, the airline added five new aircraft to its fleet, including its first A321LR. This was the highest number of deliveries the airline has ever received in one month.
The operating fleet, which exceeded 100 aircraft, took in the delivery of Etihad’s sixth Airbus A350 in April 2025 and the return of a seventh A380 in May 2025. In the same month, the airline announced an agreement for an order for 28 wide-body aircraft with Boeing, directly related to US President Donald Trump’s four-day visit to the Persian Gulf.
According to the carrier, this expansion enabled it to serve almost 90 destinations as of June 2025, covering both year-round and seasonal services. Additionally, Etihad has announced 27 new destinations in 2025 so far, bringing millions of visitors directly to Abu Dhabi and beyond.
Etihad added that its financial success has been “powered by its people”. In the first half of 2025, the airline hired over 1,700 new employees, including more than 100 pilots and 1,000 cabin crew.
“We are already ahead of the growth levels we set in our strategy, we remain focused on execution, and are committed to expansion built on efficiency, service, and innovation,” the airline said, predicting strong performance for the rest of 2025.
