AerCap delivers first Boeing 777-300ERSF to Hong Kong’s Fly Meta
AerCap has handed over the first of three Boeing 777-300ERSF converted aircraft to Fly Meta, an aviation leasing and ACMI/CMI solutions provider based in Hong Kong.
In a statement released on December 1, 2025, the company announced that the first aircraft was delivered on November 21, 2025. The second and third deliveries are planned for Q2 and Q4 of 2026, respectively.
The aircraft will be managed under a Crew Maintenance and Insurance (CMI) agreement by Air Atlanta Icelandic, operating under the Hungary Air brand, making them the first to use this aircraft type between the Asia-Pacific and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) regions.
“With 25% more capacity than today’s smaller twin-engine long-haul freighters, Boeing 777-300ERSF offers significant cost efficiencies, superior range and outstanding operational commonality,” said Rich Greener, the Head of AerCap Cargo. “I would like to thank the entire Fly Meta, Hungary Air and Air Atlanta teams for their trust in AerCap Cargo and for their partnership.”
The Boeing 777-300ERSF, referred to as “The Big Twin”, is the inaugural passenger-to-freighter conversion program for the Boeing 777-300ER. Boeing claims that the 777-300ER is “the most reliable twin aisle flying today.” It has the highest schedule reliability of any twin aisle plane at 99.5%.
The 777-300ER can carry 396 passengers in a typical two-class configuration and has a range of up to 7,370 nautical miles (13,650 kilometers), allowing for long-haul flights like New York–Hong Kong, Singapore–London, or Sydney–Los Angeles.
The aircraft received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and CAA International (CAAi) on August 31, 2025, and began service in mid-September.
In September 2025, Kalitta Air became the first carrier to receive the first two Boeing 777-300ERSF aircraft from AerCap. The airline began using both converted aircraft for revenue service in October 2025.
