AirAsia’s ‘Give Peace a Chance’ campaign launches after US-Iran ceasefire
AirAsia launched a promotional campaign with a pointed name,”Give Peace a Chance”, just hours after the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire on April 8, 2026. The ceasefire is the first significant pause in a conflict that has rattled global markets, disrupted aviation routes, and sent oil prices past $100 a barrel.
The low-cost carrier’s Co-Founder Tony Fernandes opened his remarks by saying he was “relieved” by the ceasefire, before pivoting to a broader message about affordable travel and human connection.
“We are so relieved to hear about the ceasefire,” Fernandes said. “At its core, AirAsia has always been about connecting people – that’s the mission with which the airline was founded. For 25 years, we have made the world smaller by connecting communities, building bridges across borders, and bringing people closer to the moments and people that matter most.”
Fernandes went further, drawing a line between affordable travel and something less tangible.
“Peace is ultimately what all of us seek, whether it’s peace between people and communities, or simply peace of mind in our own lives. And travel has a unique way of creating both. It allows people to reconnect, discover new perspectives, and find the space to breathe, reflect and reset.”
“When people meet face to face and see eye to eye, it builds understanding and breaks down differences. That is why connection should never become a luxury. And we will continue the crusade of connecting the world, and giving peace a chance,” Fernandes added.
Out of Singapore, AirAsia is advertising direct flights starting at SGD 72 (US$56) to destinations including Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, and Kota Kinabalu.
Passengers willing to connect through Kuala Lumpur via the airline’s Fly-Thru transfer service can reach cities like Da Nang, Chiang Mai, Seoul, and Almaty from SGD 159 (US$124). The booking window runs through 14 April 2026, covering travel dates from 20 April 2026 to 27 March 2027.
