Avincis follows up Airbus H145 purchase with order for 15 Leonardo helicopters
After announcing an order for 15 Airbus H145s, Avincis has also confirmed the acquisition of 15 Leonardo helicopters, bringing the total number of new aircraft to 30.
On June 15, 2026, Leonardo said that Europe’s largest emergency aerial services operator had purchased 10 AW169 light intermediate and five AW139 intermediate twin engine aircraft.
Italy’s Leonardo added that the helicopters are expected to be delivered between 2028 and 2031.
Three of the new AW169s under this agreement are destined for Sweden where Avincis has been awarded the joint Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) contract from Region Uppsala and Västra Götalandsregionen.
“This agreement further strengthens our longstanding partnership dedicated to supporting critical emergency medical services across Europe,” Andrea Mirteto, SVP Sales EMEA at Leonardo, said. “As the HEMS market continues to grow and increasingly shifts towards larger, more capable aircraft, the AW169 and AW139 are proving to be the platforms of choice for operators seeking enhanced mission performance, greater cabin space and increased operational flexibility.”

“This significant order represents the confidence we have in the potential of the emergency aerial services market and will support our pipeline of growth going forward. We have listened to our customers, and we believe this combination of Airbus and Leonardo aircraft will meet their future requirements,” said John Boag, Avincis Group CEO.
He added: “We also firmly believe that owning aircraft is a core strength of our business, giving us greater control over availability, configuration and long-term cost efficiency, while enabling us to respond more effectively to our customers’ evolving needs.”
The total Avincis fleet currently consists of around 210 aircraft (170 helicopters / 40 airplanes). This includes approximately 60 Airbus aircraft and 70 Leonardo aircraft.
