Montreal airport worker hit by aircraft, seriously injured
A worker was seriously injured after being struck by an aircraft on the apron at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) on the evening of August 24, 2026.
Aéroports de Montréal (ADM), the airport operator, said emergency measures were deployed at around 19:30 local time following what it called an accident involving an aircraft and a member of the airport community. ADM said the employee was taken to a hospital, that airport operations were continuing, and that passengers should confirm schedules with their airlines.
Radio-Canada identified him as a signaller, the ground position that guides aircraft on and off stands. The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) described the injuries as serious.
French bee flight leaves Montreal six hours late
The accident occurred as French bee Airbus A350-900 F-HREY was preparing to operate flight BF5761 from Montréal to Paris Orly Airport (ORY). The service was scheduled to depart at 18:00 local time on August 24, 2026, but did not leave following the accident.
Flight records show that F-HREY had arrived from Orly as BF760 at 21:27 on August 22, 2026. Its planned return flight, BF761, scheduled for 23:00 that evening, was canceled. Radio-Canada reported that it was held due to a technical problem.
A separate French bee A350-900, F-HREU, operated the regularly scheduled BF761, departing at 00:11 on August 25, 2026. Available records do not establish whether it carried passengers from BF5761.
TSB notified as workplace regulator takes over
A spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) told Radio-Canada that its investigators had been made aware of the accident. As of August 25, 2026, the TSB had not published a deployment notice for the occurrence.
The SPVM told The Canadian Press that the case would be referred to the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST), Quebec’s workplace safety regulator, since it is a workplace accident. The post Montreal airport worker hit by aircraft, seriously injured appeared first on AeroTime.
