Condor buyout by Attestor set for completion in August 2027
German leisure airline Condor has released further details regarding its takeover by the British investment firm Attestor, including a timeframe for when the acquisition is set to be completed.
On September 25, 2026, Condor issued a statement confirming that it is currently “reorganizing its shareholder structure”.
The company said that Attesor’s option to acquire a remaining 49% stake had been exercised, with completion of the transaction scheduled for August 31, 2027.
Attestor’s plans to exercise the option were widely reported in July 2026, with the suggestion that the firm might look to sell a minority share to a larger airline.
Condor“Following the early repayment of the state aid received by Condor in spring 2026, the 49 percent stake previously held by SG Luftfahrtgesellschaft on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Hesse will be restructured,” Condor said.
The carrier added that the “milestone marks the end of an extraordinary chapter in the history of the German airline”.
Thomas Cook collapse
The initial arrangement, by which the German state held shares in Condor, came following the insolvency of the airline’s former parent company, Thomas Cook, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Support from the government helped stabilize the airline while Attestor joined Condor as a long-term investor in 2021.
As part of the 2021 agreement, it was stated that Attestor would have the option of acquiring the remaining shares at a later time.
“[Attestor] has actively supported the company’s strategic development ever since,” Condor said in its statement.
According to ch-aviation, Condor currently operates a fleet of 55 aircraft with a further 17 on wet lease.
The airline’s own fleet includes 18 Airbus A330neos, 12 A321-200s, nine A321neos, nine A320-200s, and seven A320neos. Just under 40 new aircraft are scheduled for delivery in the future
