Czech company LPP unveiled its JWI-4000 Interceptor at Future Forces Forum 2026 in Prague, offering a hard-kill answer to the growing threat from one-way attack drones. The system is designed to rapidly detect and destroy hostile UAVs before they reach troops or critical infrastructure. Reaching 300 km/h with a 10 km range, the JWI-4000 combines autonomous interception with a thermobaric warhead. Its speed and integrated targeting architecture make it a compact option for short-range counter-drone defence.

The growing use of long-range one-way attack drones is creating an urgent requirement for dedicated interceptors able to reinforce conventional air defence. During Future Forces Forum 2026 in Prague, Czech Republic, LPP presented its JWI-4000 Interceptor, a complete counter-UAS system specifically designed to detect, intercept and hard-kill hostile unmanned aircraft, including Geran-2 and Shahed 136-type drones. Army Recognition Group was present at the exhibition as an Official Media Partner to report on the newest defence technologies and operational capabilities displayed by Czech and international industry.
The JWI-4000 is considerably more than an interceptor air vehicle. LPP has developed it as an integrated counter-drone architecture combining the interceptor with a base station, ground station, radar, jamming-hardened multiband communications and a compact catapult launcher. The interceptor itself incorporates an in-house autopilot, navigation unit and multiple sensors, while the launcher includes a base station that acts as middleware within the overall system. This architecture demonstrates LPP’s ability to combine flight control, communications, sensors and engagement functions within a single Czech-developed solution rather than presenting a standalone airframe.

According to technical information released by LPP, the JWI-4000 can reach a maximum speed of 300 km/h and operate at altitudes of up to 4,000 metres. It has a stated climb rate of 35 metres per second and, at maximum altitude, an operational endurance of up to ten minutes and an engagement range of up to 10 kilometres. The interceptor can carry a combat payload of up to 1.8 kg. Neutralisation is achieved through a thermobaric warhead designed to create an omnidirectional pressure effect around the engagement point, giving the JWI-4000 a dedicated hard kill capability against hostile UAVs.
One of the most important aspects of the system is the threat category LPP has chosen to address. The Czech manufacturer explicitly identifies the Geran-2 and Shahed 136 family and their derivatives among the targets for which the JWI-4000 has been designed. Equally significant is its ability to operate as part of an existing air defence network. LPP states that the system can connect with dedicated detection radars through the ASTERIX protocol, allowing external air surveillance assets to provide the information required for target cueing and engagement. This opens the possibility of deploying the interceptor as an additional counter-UAS layer rather than creating an isolated defensive architecture.
The JWI-4000 also reflects the broader technological approach pursued by LPP. The Prague-based company develops and manufactures a significant proportion of its critical technologies internally, including unmanned platforms, avionics, navigation systems, autopilots, mission software and turbojet propulsion. This level of vertical integration gives LPP control over key elements of its systems and their future development while reducing dependence on externally sourced technologies. At Future Forces Forum, where the company presented a wider portfolio of autonomous aerial and ground systems, the JWI-4000 stood out as a focused response to one of the most immediate challenges confronting modern air defence forces.
Future Forces Forum provides an important international platform in Prague for defence companies, armed forces, government representatives, researchers and security specialists to examine emerging technologies against rapidly changing operational requirements. LPP’s presentation of the JWI-4000 illustrates both the increasing sophistication of the Czech defence industry and the value of the exhibition in bringing new counter-UAS technologies directly before military and security decision-makers. With its 300 km/h interceptor, 4,000-metre operating ceiling, thermobaric hard-kill payload and ability to connect with existing air defence radars, the JWI-4000 offers a dedicated Czech-developed response to the growing challenge presented by Shahed-class one-way attack drones.
