Lufthansa and SWISS delay Dubai return due to ‘volatility’ around Middle East
Lufthansa Group carriers Lufthansa, SWISS and Eurowings have delayed their planned return to Dubai after deciding that the situation in the Middle East remains too unsettled.
On October 23, 2026, the Lufthansa, SWISS and Eurowings jointly confirmed that they would postpone their planned resumption of flights to Dubai until November 25, 2026.
Previously, Lufthansa and SWISS were scheduled to restart their service on October 25, 2026, and Eurowings on November 1, 2026.
The airlines said the decision was made “in light of the current situation and outlook in the Middle East”. Neither of the airlines have flown to Dubai since March 2026.
SWISSLufthansa said that passengers affected by the postponing will be contacted directly by their respective airlines and will be offered flexible rebooking options or a full refund.
For their 2026/2027 winter schedule, Lufthansa has planned up to five weekly flights to Dubai from both Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Munich Airport (MUC).
SWISS plans to operate daily flights to Dubai from Zurich (ZRH) as does Eurowings from Berlin (BER).
Austrian Airlines is scheduled to operate five weekly flights from Vienna (VIE), starting December 12, 2026.
Eurowings will not operate the planned flights from Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart to Dubai during the 2026/2027 winter schedule.
At peak operation, Lufthansa Group airlines will offer up to 28 weekly flights to and from Dubai.
“The Lufthansa Group continuously monitors and evaluates the situation in the Middle East and is in close contact with the relevant authorities,” the company said. “The safety of passengers and crew is always the top priority for the Lufthansa Group. Due to the continued volatility of the situation in the region, short-notice adjustments to individual routes may be necessary.”
