The aircraft was being towed in a hangar when it jumped chocks while the crew was switching tow trucks. The nose hit the hangar wall while the engine struck a tow tractor.
Investigators now revealed that the wrong type of tow truck was used to tow the aircraft into a hangar that was too small for the tow truck.
While switching to a smaller tow truck, the crew from L3Harris applied parking brake on the plane and put chocks on its wheels.
However, the parking brake on the aircraft was not set correctly and the chocks were not the correct type. They were also not put into place on all wheels.
Therefore, the airliner jumped chocks while the crew switched to a smaller tow truck and its right engine struck the D-12 tow tractor parked inside the hangar and the nose impact the hangar’s wall.
