Study found that noise from EA-18G at Whidbey Island could affect marine life
A new study published in the Journal of Marine Science and Engineering on Nov. 16 says noise from EA-18G deployed to NAS Whidbey Island could have an impact on orcas and other endangered marine animals.

The study found that the noise did not deflect off the water surface and dispersed underwater.
Lauren Kuehne, an author of the paper, said the noise levels are comparable to boat noise.
The U.S. Navy disagrees with the study, the service said that the work is based on “behavioral response data and thresholds from other studies and sound sources which are not consistent with aircraft noise.”
