The “Little Prince” now has its own dictionary, that is, a book that lists the hidden aspects of its conception and all its subsequent variations.
Featuring behind-the-scenes details of the writing and publishing process, rare drawings by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, photos of the original manuscript, a guide to the main protagonists, scenery and objects, among others. Aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry concocted a real recipe to write his masterpiece! And it is precisely this little “kitchen” that is exhibited in “Le Petit Prince: La Grande Encyclopédie”. It contains stories from the history of the “Little Prince”, a children’s tale as well as a poetic and philosophical work, told by the most knowledgeable connoisseurs of the Aéropostale pioneer’s writings.
But there’s even more than that! This book takes it one step further, providing an inventory of the many ways in which “The Little Prince” has been adapted over the last eighty years. Short films, feature films, cartoons, musicals, comic books, merchandising… They’re all listed in this encyclopedia!
Needless to say, it will probably need to be re-released in a few years’ time, as Saint-Exupéry’s masterwork continues to be exploited, explored and exhibited… That’s what happens when you’re part of the world’s cultural heritage!
