SMBC Aviation Capital firms up order for 22 more Airbus A320neo aircraft
SMBC Aviation Capital has exercised options for 22 A320neo family aircraft firm orders.
This move, announced on the first day of the 2024 edition of the Farnborough International Airshow, follows a 2021 order for 20 additional firm aircraft, increasing the lessor’s total additional commitment to 42 firm A320neo family aircraft.
The airliners will be powered by GTF engines. The lessor highlighted its collaboration with the engine maker Pratt & Whitney, an RTX company, to power the aircraft.
“SMBC Aviation Capital is pleased to confirm these latest technology engines reflecting our underlying commitment to invest in the most fuel efficient and sustainable aircraft types, which our customers want to operate,” said Barry Flannery, CCO of SMBC Aviation Capital.
Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, SMBC Aviation Capital is one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, specializing in providing commercial jet aircraft to airlines globally.
SMBC Aviation Capital first announced its selection for 50 firm A320neo family aircraft in 2019. According to the company’s website, its portfolio already includes 292 A320neo family aircraft.
