STARLUX to lease six A321neo from GY Aviation Lease 2405 Co as it eyes expansion
Taiwanese carrier STARLUX is set to grow its Airbus A321neo fleet by leasing six of the aircraft from Dublin-based Gy Aviation Lease 2405 Co.
The Taipei Times has reported that the airline plans to spend about NT$2.16 billion (US$67.51 million) on each of the first three planes, with the price of the other three planes still under negotiation.
Airbus President Asia Pacific Anand Stanley posted via a LinkedIn update stating that the addition of the A321neos will enable STARLUX to expand its Asian network.
The full-service carrier has been steadily developing its services in the US and more than 20 connections in Asia, including:
Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) in Bangkok
Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX)
Clark International Airport (CRK)
Cebu Mactan International Airport (CEB)
Da Nang International Airport (DAD)
Nội Bài International Airport (HAN) in Hanoi
Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City
Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC)
Penang International Airport (PEN)
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL)
Singapore Changi Airport (SIN)
Macau International Airport (MFM)
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)
The airline also connects to nine destinations in Japan via Taipei.
On August 16, 2024, STARLUX launched its inaugural A350 flight from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in Taipei to Seattle Tacoma Airport (SEA).
In April 2023, STARLUX launched its first transpacific route between Taipei and Los Angeles. It began operating its service between Taipei and San Francisco in December 2023.
