Emirates reveals heart-warming inspiration behind unique new Airbus A380 livery
Emirates has unveiled a unique Airbus A380 livery to highlight the airline’s efforts to transform the lives of thousands of children around the world.
Inspired by the Emirates Airline Foundation’s humanitarian work, the Airbus A380 features the theme of children’s artwork and the message “Help to support children in need”.
The livery also includes green, orange, blue and pink pastel stars and each of the A380’s engine cowls have been painted in a warm orange shade, “symbolizing a better future for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children that the Foundation supports”.
The newly decorated Emirates Airbus A380-800, registered A6-EEP, took off for the first time on September 2, 2024, from Dubai for Johannesburg in South Africa where the airline’s foundation supports two projects.
“Over the last twenty years, The Emirates Airline Foundation has supported over 50 projects, partnering with numerous community-based organisations and NGOs to deepen their work and serve the critical developmental needs of children for safe housing, food and medical care, and empowerment through education and capacity development, irrespective of geography, background, political associations or religion,” a spokesperson for the airline said.
They added: “Funding towards projects is made possible by the generous donations made onboard or online by Emirates customers, donors and employees.”
Focused mainly on locations where Emirates operates so employees can volunteer to help, the foundation currently supports 14 NGOs in nine countries.
These include Prithipura Communities in Sri Lanka, where the foundation supports 240 infants, children, and young adults with disabilities through specialist care, education, vocational training, and employment opportunities.
In South Africa, the foundation supports the Fikelela Children’s Centre which helps children who live with HIV or AIDS and in Zimbabwe, the foundation provides vital resources for St Marcellin’s Children’s Village which cares for orphaned and homeless children, many with physical disabilities, blindness, and HIV.
