Brussels Airlines to invest €100 million in new cabins, expand long-haul fleet 

Brussels Airlines is expanding its long-haul fleet with three additional Airbus A330 aircraft. 

While the exact A330 version and the approximate date of entry into service has not yet been specified, the Belgian airline has stated that these aircraft will be used primarily to serve destinations in Sub-Saharan Africa. 

Dieter Vranckx, Chairman of the Board of Directors at SN Airholding (Brussels Airlines holding company, itself 100% owned by the Lufthansa Group) explained that fast growing demand in Africa, historically the airline’s core long haul market, has prompted the decision to increase its widebody fleet. 

The addition of these three aircraft will also create some 250 new jobs to support them. 

In addition. Brussels Airlines revealed that it will be investing more than €100 million in the introduction of a new cabin interior across its fleet. So far, the airline has provided no additional details about this new cabin, other than the fact that the changes will be applied to all three cabin classes (Business, Premium Economy and Economy). 

The carrier is also expanding its capacity during the 2024/25 summer season by adding four Airbus A220 aircraft on wet lease from airBaltic. These are part of a three-year agreement between Lufthansa Group and airBaltic that will see up to 21 of airBaltic’s A220s operating on behalf of the different airlines within the Lufthansa Group.  The post Brussels Airlines to invest €100 million in new cabins, expand long-haul fleet  appeared first on AeroTime.
