Frontier jet touches down with landing gear ablaze after midair emergency: video
Pilots aboard a Frontier Airlines Airbus A321-200 declared a midair emergency after smoke was detected on the aircraft by the flight crew.
As the Frontier Airlines Airbus A321, registered N701FR, touched down at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas the landing gear was ablaze with teams of firefighters awaiting the flight.
Fortunately, the fire appeared to extinguish itself as the aircraft came to a stop and fire engines swooped in with water cannons firing as a precaution.
The dramatic events were captured on video by a bystander in the airport terminal and shared across social media.
Frontier flight F9-1326 took off from San Diego Airport (SAN) on October 5, 2024, shortly after 14:20 local time, and landed in Las Vegas at 15:13 following a short journey.

“The aircraft landed safely and all passengers and crew were evacuated via airstairs. No injuries were reported, and passengers have been bussed to the terminal,” a spokesperson for Frontier said.
According to the airline there were 190 passengers and seven crew members on board the flight from San Diego.
The cause of the incident is currently under investigation and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is aware of the incident.
