Romania’s HiSky Europe commences direct A320 flights from Bucharest to Paris
On Monday, October 14, 2024, Romanian airline HiSky Europe operated its first flight on the carrier’s newly introduced direct service between Romania’s capital city Bucharest, and Paris. The first flight was operated by one of the carrier’s fleet of Airbus A320 narrowbody jets.
The inaugural flight, operating with flight number HYS221, departed from Bucharest’s Henri Coanda International Airport (OTP) at 11:14, arriving at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) at 13:17 local time after around two hours of flying time. The aircraft then returned to Bucharest as HYS222 before operating a return service to Timisoara (TSR) in Romania. The aircraft used was Airbus A320 registered YR-JOY.
HiSky Europe becomes the third airline operating services between Bucharest and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, following Romania’s TAROM and France’s Air France on the route. Through HiSky’s route network across Eastern Europe, passengers seeking onward connections to Paris can connect at Bucharest from the carrier’s services from Cluj-Napoca, Oradea, and Timisoara.
Flightradar24“Until today, only four airlines offered the option of direct flights from Bucharest to Paris, two of which were low-cost carriers with the major disadvantage of landing at secondary airports far from the city,” said Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky. “We believed that passengers needed an affordable alternative to travel with a full-service airline.”
The 1,154-mile (1,846km) route will be operated by HiSky three times per week, with departures from each city on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flights from Bucharest to Paris are scheduled to leave at 10:20 arriving in Paris at 12:25. The return leg departs at 13:25 arriving back in Bucharest at 17:10.
HiSky EuropeHiSky is the second-largest full-service airline in Romania after national carrier TAROM. According to ch-aviation, the airline operates a fleet of six aircraft comprising three Airbus A320s, two A321neos, and a single A330-200 used for long-haul services. The airline also employs a single A319 operated by its Moldovan subsidiary company.
The carrier operates scheduled services on 26 routes to 23 destinations across 11 countries, predominantly from its bases in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Oradea, Iași, Baia Mare, and Chișinău (Moldova), as well as charter flights in partnership with several major Romanian travel agencies.
