Scandinavian Airlines launches new route between Copenhagen and Nuuk
Scandinavian Airlines will start new direct flights from Copenhagen, Denmark, to Nuuk, Greenland, beginning in summer of 2025.
In a press release published on October 23, 2024, Scandinavian Airlines announced that the new route will connect Copenhagen (CPH) with Nuuk, Greenland (GOH), starting June 27, 2024. The flights between Copenhagen and Nuuk will run three times a week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
“We’re thrilled to enhance connectivity between Greenland, Scandinavia and destinations worldwide through our SkyTeam alliance,” says Anko van der Werff, President and CEO of SAS. “This new route meets the rising demand for unique, adventurous travel experiences, while reinforcing Copenhagen’s position as a key hub for Scandinavian connections worldwide.”
Additionally, Scandinavian Airlines has a commercial agreement with Air Greenland, which links Greenland to its larger network, according to the press release.
The airline stated that this enhances access to Scandinavian Airlines global network, as well as “strengthens travel connections to and from Greenland.” The new route aligns with the launch of Nuuk’s International Airport on November 28, 2024, marking the airline’s return to Greenland after more than two decades.
The island nation remains a less common destination for adventure travelers. Nevertheless, tourism is a “significant pillar of the country’s economy,” according to Greenland’s official website. Greenland was recently named by National Geographic as one of the 25 best places to travel in 2025.
