Airbus looks to increase staff in India to over 5,000 as new HQ opens in Delhi
Airbus plans to increase its workforce in India by 5,000 staff members plus source services and components worth $2 billion over the next two years.
The announcement was made on October 25, 2024, as Airbus opened its new India and South Asia Headquarters -Training Center in Delhi, as reported by Times of India.
Commercial Aircraft, Helicopters and Defense & Space will be based at the new aviation center at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) along with four A320neo Full Flight Simulators (FFS).
The official opening of the new headquarters was attended by the President of Airbus India and Managing Director South Asia, Remi Maillard, who reiterated the planemaker’s commitment to the company.
“The inauguration of the new headquarters of Airbus in India and South Asia is another milestone in Airbus’ ambitious vision for India. It represents our unwavering commitment to developing the full spectrum of the country’s aerospace ecosystem,” Mallard said. “Airbus has seen a three-fold growth in its full-time employee count in India in the last three years and we will continue to grow.”
Airbus currently employs around 3,500 people in India and is on course to open a 5,000-seater Airbus Campus in Bengaluru next year.
In other plans, Airbus will manufacture the C295 military aircraft and H125 helicopter in India.
India has become a powerhouse of aviation, with airlines such as Air India and IndiGo both making huge orders for aircraft over the last year as demand skyrockets for travel in the country.
