A collection consisting of flight logs, travel diaries and notes, retracing step by step the epic tale of Aéropostale through the eyes of a young man.
From Toulouse to Santiago, Chile, relive the incredible adventure that is the story of Aéropostale! An epic journey on board the Breguet XIV, the Salmson or the famous Latécoère (Laté) 28 through the eyes of the young Léopold, as he navigates the Aéropostale routes, confronted with their beauty and the inherent dangers they pose. Though some of Aéropostale’s heroes have since become legends (Saint-Exupéry, Mermoz, Guillaumet, etc.) by way of their courage and dedication, some 120 pilots also gave their lives.
To pay tribute to all these heroes, both the famous and the lesser known among them, author Yves Marc and illustrator Sophie Binder are bringing them to life. From the vast expanses of the Sahara Desert to the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, not to mention the stretches of sand that make up the beaches of Brazil… In other words, these are dreamlike settings enhanced by poetic texts and fine watercolor illustrations.
The book showcases every one of the towns and stops that have defined the lofty history of Aéropostale and provides readers with an opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of these exceptional pilots as they discovered places that had never been seen from the air. In short, a book that inspires to dream big and explore!
