airBaltic expands from Estonia with new flights to Reykjavik in Iceland
AirBaltic has heralded the commencement of its latest route when on June 18, 2025, the carrier’s first flight between its base in Tallinn, Estonia, and Reykjavik in Iceland departed. The new route marks airBaltic’s second connection to Iceland, complementing the long-standing flights to the airline’s home base in Riga, Latvia. With the new route up and running, from late March to late October, airBaltic will operate 22 direct routes from the Estonian capital to various destinations across Europe and beyond.
The first flight between Tallinn and Reykjavik-Keflavik Airport (KEF) departed from Tallinn Airport (TLL) as flight number BT819 on June 18, 2025, at 00:35. After a flight time of three hours and 34 minutes, the flight touched down in Reykjavik at 01:08 local time. The flight, which covered a distance of 1,553 miles (2,485km), was operated by airBaltic’s Airbus A220-300 registered as YL-ABK.

Departures from Tallinn to Reykjavik are scheduled on Wednesdays and Saturdays, while return flights from Reykjavik to Tallinn take place on Thursdays and Sundays. This seasonal service will run until the end of August 2025. AirBaltic will operate all flights on this route with its 50-strong fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft, offering both economy and business class cabins. The airline also offers free high-speed SpaceX Starlink internet on all flights, making it the first European airline to provide such a service.
“Tallinn is one of airBaltic’s home bases, and we are committed to expanding connectivity for Estonia, offering more convenient travel options for our passengers, and continuing to grow our market share in the country,” said Mantas Vrubliauskas, VP Network Management at airBaltic. “This new service will support both leisure and business travel, while also contributing to inbound tourism of Estonia and the wider Baltic region.”
Recently, airBaltic announced plans to expand its network elsewhere in Europe with three new destinations for the upcoming winter season from late October 2025 to late March 2026. The carrier will add new routes from Riga (Latvia) to Faro (Portugal), from Tallinn to Madeira (Portugal), and from Gran Canaria (Spain) to Ljubljana (Slovenia). The airline operates a summer-only temporary base on the Spanish island.

AirBaltic also plans to enhance connectivity to Amsterdam (Netherlands) from all three Baltic capitals, offering 19 weekly flights from Riga and 14 weekly flights from Tallinn and Vilnius each.
In total, airBaltic operates nearly 130 routes from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere, and, seasonally, Gran Canaria, offering connections to a wide range of destinations in the airline’s route network in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region. While the airline has 50 A220-300s in service, the carrier has orders for 50 more, effectively doubling its fleet in the coming years.
