Man convicted after flying 120 free flights using fake cabin crew identity
More than 120 free flights over the course of six years: that’s how many perks and freebies a Florida man obtained by faking a flight attendant identity.
The Federal Jury of the South District of Florida convicted the 35-year old man, identified as Tiron Alexander, of wire fraud and entering into a secure area of an airport under false pretenses.
Court documents presented as evidence at the June 5, 2025 trial showed that Alexander used a section of an airline’s website that was available only to pilots and flight attendants in order to book free flights.
From 2018 to 2024, Alexander claimed through the carrier’s website application process that he worked for seven different airlines, and had approximately 30 different badge numbers and dates of hire.
Additional evidence showed that Alexander also pretended to work for three more different carriers, in addition to the seven.
According to further submitted evidence, Alexander was a global ticketing support representative for Delta Air Lines from 2010 to 2012 and a flight attendant for Atlantic Southeast Airlines from 2013 to 2014. In 2015, he worked as a flight attendant for Republic Airways.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) told media outlet Fortune that Alexander was able to score free flights by fraudulently obtaining a boarding pass, undergoing TSA security procedures including ID verification and physical screening, “and did not pose a threat to other airline passengers”.
“TSA remains dedicated to the security of the flying public and will continue to support the prosecution of those who break air travel laws,” TSA added.
Alexander was arrested in March 2025, and his court sentencing is scheduled for August 25, 2025. He faces up to 30 years in prison.
