Flight operations hit as airlines prepare for impending ATC strikes in France
Airlines are preparing for impending air traffic control strikes in France after the French civil aviation agency (DGAC) asked carriers to reduce operations at airports.
Airlines were requested to reduce flights on July 3, 2025, at Paris airports by 25% and told passengers expecting to travel to contact their carrier to confirm arrangements.
In a post on social media, DGCA listed the affected airports as Nice, Bastia, Calvi, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Ajaccio, Figari, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Paris-Orly, and Beauvais.
Nice, Bastia and Calvi were asked to reduce flights by 50% and Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Ajaccio and Figari by 30%, according to Reuters.
On July 2, 2025, Royal Air Maroc said that due to ATC strikes in France some flights to and from French airports would be disrupted.

Paris-Orly (ORY) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) have both warned passengers about the upcoming industrial strike action.
“Cancellations and delays to be expected on departure/arrival at #CDG #Orly and other airports in France. Check your flight details with your airline before going to the airport,” a spokesperson for both airports said on July 2, 2025.
The French union ICNA, said the strikes are about giving air traffic controllers their voice gain that are unhappy with record levels of aircraft traffic.
Strikes are also planned for July 4, 2025, but only one of the two unions involved is expected to continue industrial action into the second day.
On July 2, 2025, the UK’s Foreign Office updated its advice for those planning to travel to France in the coming days.
In an update on its website the Foreign Office said: “On 3 and 4 July, planned industrial action by air traffic control unions is expected to disrupt flights to and from airports across France. Check your operator’s advice before travelling, including where you are taking connecting flights.”
