Passengers left stranded after man dies on Emirates flight from Dubai to Sydney
Passengers on an Emirates flight from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD) were unable to disembark on time after a man tragically died on board the aircraft.
Flight EK 412 left Dubai at 10:30 local time on June 30, 2025, and arrived in Sydney at around 06:30 local time on July 1, 2025.
During the 14-hour flight, one of the passengers suffered a medical episode. Upon landing in Sydney, members of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and New South Wales (NSW) Ambulance were called to the A380 aircraft in order to atted to the 66-year old passenger.
A NSW Police spokesperson told local Australian media outlets that despite immediate efforts, the man “could not be revived.”
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and is believed to have died of natural causes.
An Emirates spokesperson confirmed to local media that a passenger was found unresponsive on board flight EK412 from Dubai to Sydney on July 1, 2025.
“Our cabin crew administered CPR; however, the passenger had sadly passed away,” the spokesperson said.
“Upon arrival, the flight was met by local authorities. There was a brief delay in disembarking passengers, and to the flight between Sydney and Christchurch to allow all relevant authorities to complete their investigations. Emirates expresses its condolences to the family,” the airline further said.
