Nauru Airlines and Air Marshall Islands announce new cooperation agreement
South Pacific carriers Air Marshall Islands and Nauru Airlines have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) strengthening ties between the carriers, “to enhance regional aviation resilience, improve connectivity and service quality, and strengthen technical and professional capacity shared between the airlines.”
Air Marshall Islands is a commercially operated airline owned by the Marshall Islands Government and based in the capital, Majuro. The airline operates two Dornier 228-212 turboprop aircraft and two De Havilland Canada DHC-8-100s. The airline has ordered three 19-seater Cessna Sky Courier 408s with the first aircraft scheduled for delivery in December 2025, the second in the first quarter of 2026, and the third to arrive in 2027.
Nauru Airlines is the national carrier of Nauru. The airline operates a fleet of seven Boeing 737 aircraft, with four dedicated to freight operations and three operating as passenger aircraft. As well as operating scheduled flights, Nauru Airlines offers charter solutions to clients in Australia, New Zealand, the South/Central Pacific, and Asia.

The MOU was signed on July 3, 2025, by the chairman of Nauru Airlines, Charleston Deiye, and the chairman of Air Marshall Islands, Bobby Muller, during the 27th Micronesian Island Forum taking place at Majuro, capital of the Marshall Islands.
Nauru AirlinesMarshall Islands leaders are joined at the summit by counterparts from Kiribati, Nauru, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Palau. According to a joint airline statement, “in recognition of the unique operating requirements faced by Pacific Island carriers, the two airlines will work collaboratively to address distinct regional aviation challenges, including infrastructure constraints, skilled workforce supply, and the streamlining of network and flight operations to improve regional connectivity.”
Areas of cooperation
Plans ahead include a wide range of initiatives, including a joint pilot cadetship program, which will establish a new training program that will incorporate a rigid training program, plus structured mentorship, and professional development to produce a pilot workforce trained to operate in complex and remote Pacific environments.
The cooperation agreement will also see the carriers undertake a joint marketing and promotion campaign, plus the airlines will “progressively implement inter-airline arrangements to enable Nauru Airlines to market, promote and sell Air Marshall Islands outer island services to destinations including Jaluit, Wotje, Kwajalein, Woja, Namdrik, Kili, Airok, Utrok, Likiep, Enewetak, Rongelap, and Bikini Atolls.

The airlines will also each represent the other as the respective General Sales Agent for the sale of passenger air tickets within their home countries.
Elsewhere, Air Marshall Islands and Nauru Airlines will also coordinate on charter and ad hoc services, including capacity allocation and operational planning to meet regional demand. The airlines will also explore opportunities to collaborate on Operational Control Centre assistance, including situational monitoring, communication support, and continuity planning.
The airlines have also signalled their intention to identify further opportunities for mutual skills development and institutional strengthening through technical cooperation and training initiatives.
