Malaysia Airlines looks to purchase more Airbus A330neo aircraft: Reuters
Malaysia Airlines is reportedly looking to purchase more Airbus A330neos with the deal set to possibly be announced during Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to France, according to Reuters.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is due to arrive in Paris for a two-day visit on June 3, 2025, where he will spend time with French President Emmanuel Macron.
In an article published on July 2, 2025, Reuters said that after speaking with industry sources it understood that Airbus was close to winning the potential order.
In June 2025, Malaysia Airlines welcomed its fourth Airbus A330neo, registered 9M-MNK, to its fleet after the first arrived to huge ceremony in December 2024.
Commenting on the arrival of its fourth A330-900, Malasia Airline said: “From the Airbus final assembly line in Toulouse to Malaysia, this aircraft isn’t just another delivery. It’s a promise to carry Malaysian Hospitality to the world, one journey at a time.”
The Malaysian flag carrier ordered 20 A330neos from Airbus in 2022, with the final aircraft expected to arrive by 2028. The new aircraft will replace its older A330-300s and allow for further route expansion.
Malaysia Airlines also announced on July 3, 2025, that its 12th Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft had arrived.
