Wizz Air sets out timeline for return to Israel, weeks earlier than planned
Hungarian operator Wizz Air has set out its timeline to restart flights to Israel after the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) lifted restrictions preventing airlines travelling to the country.
Wizz Air confirmed on July 10, 2025, that it would relaunch flights to Israel on August 8, 2025, a month earlier than the carrier initially planned.
EASA brought in restrictions on June 13, 2025, after Israel conducted a military strike targeting sites within Iranian territory to which Iran launched retaliatory attacks.
The warning was revised on June 30, 2025, and eventually withdrawn on July 7, 2025, after hostilities between Israel and Iran had eased for a sustained period.
Wizz Air originally planned to restart flights to Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) in Tel Aviv on September 15, 2025.
“We’re back — and we’re back with purpose. Our early return to Tel Aviv demonstrates our commitment to our loyal Israeli passengers and to keeping the world connected,” said András Radó, Head of Communications at Wizz Air.
Out of the 24 routes to 11 countries offered by the airline to Tel Aviv, 10 routes to eight countries will commence operations earlier than planned, while the rest of the routes will return on September 15, 2025.
Two routes to Tel Aviv will begin on August 8, 2025, from Budapest in Hungary and Larnaca in Cyprus.
By September 1, 2025, flights from Milan, Rome, London, Vienna, Bucharest, Iasi, Sofia and Abu Dhabi will also restart.
On July 8, 2025, United Airlines has revealed plans to resume flights from New York to Tel Aviv, becoming the first US airline to do so in the wake of conflict between Israel and Iran.
