USAF deploys B-52H Stratofortress to Guam as part of Indo-Pacific task force ops
The US Air Force (USAF) has deployed its B-52H Stratofortress bombers at Guam’s Andersen Air Force Base.
The bombers arrived on July 8, 2025 as part of the USAF’s ongoing training with allies, partners, and joint forces across the Indo-Pacific region.

The bomber is capable of flying at high subsonic speeds at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet (15,166.6 meters). It can carry nuclear or precision guided conventional ordnance with worldwide precision navigation capability.
According to the USAF, Bomber Task Force missions enable different types of strategic bombers to operate in the Indo-Pacific region from a broad array of overseas and continental US locations with greater operational resilience.
“Exercising at this speed, scale and tempo is how we prepare for the future fight,” said Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin.
“We need Airmen to move fast and think outside the box, disrupting the operational status quo. We also build trust and understanding through deliberate planning, operating and learning alongside our partners across the Pacific,” Allvin added.
For more than 40 years, B-52 Stratofortresses have been the backbone of the manned strategic bomber force for the USAF. The B-52 is capable of dropping or launching the widest array of weapons in the US inventory. This includes gravity bombs, cluster bombs, precision guided missiles and joint direct attack munitions.
Altogether, the USAF’s exercises across the Pacific, including the joint US-Australia exercise Talisman Sabre, will involve 12,000 Air Force and Space Force personnel and more than 350 USAF aircraft.
