Air New Zealand appoints Nikhil Ravishankar as new CEO
Air New Zealand has appointed Nikhil Ravishankar as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the airline announced on July 30, 2025.
Ravishankar will succeed Greg Foran as Chief Executive on October 20, 2025, bringing an end to Foran’s five-year tenure at the helm of the airline.
A native of New Zealand, Foran took the reins of his home country’s airline in February 2020, just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, after a successful career at US retail giant Walmart. This circumstance led him to steer the carrier through what was possibly the most challenging period in its entire history.
Ravishankar joined Air New Zealand in September 2021 with the mission to head the airline’s technology-related functions. Prior to that, he had served as Chief Digital Officer at Vector, New Zealand’s largest energy distributor, and had also held several senior roles at global consulting firm Accenture.
In a press release announcing Ravishankar’s appointment, Dame Therese Walsh, Chair of Air New Zealand’s board, that the leadership change marks the beginning of the next chapter for the airline, “reflecting the strong momentum underway and a new generation of leadership for the future”.
In his new post, Ravishankar will oversee a number of projects that are expected to shape the future of Air New Zealand, such as the retrofit of the entire B787 Dreamliner fleet and the arrival of new aircraft of this type, as well as the rollout of the airline’s ambitious sustainable flight program. The latter includes the testing of hybrid-electric aircraft in New Zealand. The post Air New Zealand appoints Nikhil Ravishankar as new CEO appeared first on AeroTime.
