AirAsia debuts enhanced cabin crew uniform at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week
AirAsia has taken to a glamorous kind of runway to showcase its enhanced cabin crew uniform at the 2025 Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week.
The enhanced uniforms incorporate recycled materials designed to deliver improved comfort, fit and function with a touch of regional craftsmanship from Malaysia and Indonesia.
During the event, AirAsia X also introduced its modest uniform variant, for select routes such as Jeddah and Medina.
According to AirAsia, the new uniform material features an upgraded fabric blend that includes up to 40% recycled textile materials, while offering a softer feel, better flexibility, and ease of movement for long hours on board.
The new material is lightweight and simple to care for, making it easy for crew members to perform their duties.
A redesigned handbag was also unveiled, conceptualised by a Malaysian designer.
“This is not just a change in fabric, it is a change in mindset,” said Suhaila Hassan, AirAsia Group Head of Cabin Crew. “Our cabin crew spend most of their time in uniform, and it matters to us that what they wear is not only functional but also reflects the values we stand for. By choosing recycled materials and working with partners who share our environmental and social principles, we are showing that progress is possible, one thread at a time.”
Hassan added: “We have always said our people are the heart of the airline. These uniforms are designed with them in mind: comfortable, breathable, and easy to move in. At the same time, they represent something bigger: our growing commitment to doing business responsibly and uplifting the communities we come from. The result is a uniform that speaks to both purpose and pride.”
