Air India announces narrow-body flight reductions
Air India has announced a temporary cut in its narrow-body flight operations. The airline will reduce 118 weekly flights across 19 routes and suspend services on three routes until at least July 15, 2025.
In a statement released on June 22, 2025, Air India described this move as a voluntary step. The carrier stated that it aims to enhance operational stability and minimize last-minute disruptions for passengers. In a statement, Air India also explained that the recent cuts represent less than five percent of its narrow-body network.
The three suspended routes include Bengaluru (BLR) to Singapore (SIN), Pune (PNQ) to Singapore (SIN), and Mumbai (BOM) to Bagdogra (IXB). Each of these routes will see a full suspension of at least seven weekly flights. Other routes such as Delhi (DEL) to Bengaluru (BLR) and Delhi (DEL) to Mumbai (BOM) will operate with fewer flights.
Despite the reductions, Air India will continue operating nearly 600 narrow-body flights daily. These flights cover 120 domestic and short-haul international routes.
“Air India apologizes to the passengers affected by these curtailments and is proactively contacting affected passengers to offer re-accommodation on alternative flights, complimentary rescheduling, or full refunds as per their preference. The revised schedule is being progressively made available on our website […] We remain committed to restoring our full schedule as soon as practicable, while at all times prioritizing the safety of our passengers, crew, and aircraft,” the statement reads.
