Air Transat begins Toronto to Berlin services, partners with Turkish Airlines
Air Transat, the Canadian-based leisure airline, has commenced new non-stop services between Toronto and Berlin. The new seasonal route will operate twice a week until October 2025, with the carrier utilizing its fleet of Airbus A321LRs on all services.
The eastbound flight with flight number TS418 leaves Toronto-Peason International Airport at 21:05 local time and arrives in Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) at 10:55 the following day. The return flight, TS419, departs Germany at 13:45 after almost three hours on the ground in Berlin and arrives back in Toronto at 16:35, taking just over eight hours. The route covers a distance of 4,052 miles (6,483 km).
The inaugural flight on the newest route on Air Transat’s network departed Toronto on June 19, 2025, and in doing so, became the first direct scheduled flight between the two cities since 2023.
GCMap.com“As the sole airline offering non-stop service from Canada to the German capital, we are excited to provide travellers with a direct and enriching way to experience one of Europe’s most vibrant cities,” said Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer of Transat. “This route not only strengthens our European presence out of Toronto but also underscores our commitment to creating meaningful connections across the Atlantic.”
“We are pleased to welcome Air Transat’s new non-stop service to Berlin — a city that has long been one of Toronto Pearson’s largest unserved European markets,” mentioned Kurush Minocher, interim Chief Commercial Officer, Toronto Pearson. “Last year, 15,000 people travelled between Toronto and Berlin, all requiring a stopover on their journey. We are excited to offer new routes that enhance passenger choice and strengthen Toronto Pearson’s global connectivity.”
“We are delighted to welcome Air Transat as a new airline partner at BER,” added Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer of Berlin Brandenburg Airport. “The new route directly connects the Berlin Brandenburg region with Toronto and offers attractive onward flight options. At the same time, the capital region offers travelers from Canada a variety of experiences – from the vibrant metropolis of Berlin with its culture, history, and creativity to Brandenburg’s lakes, castles, and nature.”

The airline operates a 19-strong fleet of Airbus A321LRs with an average fleet age of 3.5 years. The airline operates the type in a two-class configuration with 199 seats (12 in business class and 187 in economy).
Transat heads to Turkey
The launch of flights to Berlin came the same day Air Transat announced the start of a new year-round non-stop route between Toronto and Istanbul. Starting December 6, 2025, the service will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. A
To support the new route, Air Transat and Turkish Airlines have established an interline partnership aimed at strengthening air service between Canada and Turkey, while offering travel options to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Since 2024, Istanbul has been accessible visa-free to Canadian citizens, and it attracts millions of visitors every year thanks to its “unique heritage, cosmopolitan atmosphere, and diverse tourism offerings.”
2025 Skytrax winner
In the third major piece of news in the same week, Air Transat was named the World’s Best Leisure Airline at the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards for the seventh time, and for the third consecutive year. This achievement highlights the Canadian airline’s commitment to providing a quality travel experience that “combines comfort, hospitality, and attention to detail at every stage of the journey. The awards ceremony took place at the 2025 Paris Air Show in France. Pamela Lloyd-Bergeron, Air Transat’s Director, In-Flight Service, accepted the award along with members of the airline’s flight crew.
“Receiving this award is an honour for everyone at Air Transat,” said Pamela Lloyd-Bergeron. “It reflects our dedication to delivering excellent service and memorable travel experiences for our passengers. Every day, our in-flight crews work passionately to create a warm atmosphere on board, where comfort, attentiveness, and attention to detail make all the difference. This distinction is entirely theirs,” she added.
