Airbus delivers 54th jet on path to increasingly ambitious looking 2026 target
Airbus has delivered its 54th commercial aircraft this year on the path to an increasingly ambitious looking annual target of “around 870” jets.
On March 9, 2026, the European aerospace giant confirmed that in February 2026, the company delivered 35 aircraft to 21 customers.
Airbus previously confirmed that 19 commercial aircraft were delivered during January 2026, bringing the total for the year so far to 54.
At the same stage in 2025, Airbus had delivered 65 aircraft, 11 more than its current performance. Airbus initially forecast annual delivery guidance of around 820 aircraft in 2025 but ended the year by delivering 793 commercial aircraft.
In February 2026, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said the company was continuing its ongoing production ramp-up while “facing significant Pratt & Whitney engine shortages”.
Despite the record high prediction of “around 870” deliveries in 2026, Airbus also suggested that the figure was negatively impacted by engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney.
In 2025, Faury spoke about dozens of aircraft that had been parked while awaiting engines.
Among the 21 customers receiving more than one aircraft in February 2026, were Delta Air Lines (six) and Wizz Air (three).
Additionally, Airbus received orders for 28 aircraft in February 2025, mainly thanks to Air Astana which purchased 20 A321neos and five A320neos.
