Airbus faces audacious December delivery target to reach company’s 2024 goal 

Airbus faces an audacious delivery target for December if the planemaker is to reach CEO Guillaume Faury’s goal to deliver “around 770” aircraft in 2024.  

On December 6, 2024, Airbus announced that the company had delivered 84 aircraft in November 2024, bringing the total number for the year to 643.  

In July 2024, Airbus reduced its delivery target for the year from 800 planes to around 770, citing the shortage of engines and other key components.  

Based on Airbus’ latest update, the planemaker would need to deliver around 127 aircraft in December 2024 to fulfil its annual goal.  

In December 2023, Airbus delivered 112 aircraft to 51 customers, bringing the total for that year to 735 –15 more than Faury had previously forecast, and 11% up on 2022 figures.   

To reach its 2023 target of “around 720” deliveries, Airbus only needed to deliver 97 aircraft in the final month of the year, so the company ultimately exceeded expectations by 15 planes.  

Among the November 2024 deliveries noted in the latest report were four major milestones for Airbus and its customers.  

Malaysia Airlines received its first ever Airbus A330neo, Emirates finally got its hands on its first A350, Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of its first A350-1000 and Icelandair welcomed its first Airbus plane – a A321LR.  

Other customers that received new planes in November 2024 included United Airlines (nine aircraft), Air Lease Cooperation (four aircraft), IndiGo (seven aircraft) and China Southern AIrlines (five aircraft).  

Airbus has also confirmed that it received 30 new orders in November 2024, all from an undisclosed buyer(s). The orders take in 10 A321neos, 15 A330neos and five A350-900s
