Alaska Airlines arrives at Heathrow after completing first flight from Seattle
Alaska Airlines has arrived at London-Heathrow Airport (LHR) after completing its first nonstop flight from Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
The Alaska Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registered N781HA, departed Washington State on May 21, 2026, and arrived safely in the UK’s capital at 15:25, around nine hours later.
The year-round daily service was first announced in August 2025, along with the unveiling of a brand-new livery for the carrier’s new Boeing 787 fleet.
Last month, Alaska Airlines launched its first nonstop flight between Seattle and Rome, marking the carrier’s maiden entry into Europe.
At a special event marking the launch of the new route on May 21, 2025, in London, Alaska Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Harrison told guests that the carrier hoped to operate to 12 international routes by 2030.

He also thanked partners at British Airways, Heathrow Airport and America Airlines for their support and advice in helping to establish the service.
As a member airline of the oneworld network, Alaska Airlines has become the 14th carrier among the group to have a presence at Heathrow Airport.
On May 28, 2028, Alaska Airlines will also begin a new nonstop Boeing 737-8 MAX service to Reykjavík, Iceland, in a signal of its further expansion into Europe.
“As we connect the West Coast to Europe in new ways, our focus is on delivering a meaningful experience that feels distinctly Alaska – warm, thoughtful and elevated at every touchpoint,” Harrison said. “For our guests in the U.S., we’re opening more convenient access to Europe with the airline they know and love, and for our guests in Europe and beyond, we’re bringing our signature West Coast hospitality to every step of the journey, reflecting the comfort and care we’re known for.”

The new route to Seattle also opens the door for UK travelers to explore the Pacific Northwest and connect on to Alaska Airlines’ extensive West Coast network, including the Hawaiian Islands.
Ross Baker, Heathrow’s Chief Customer Officer, said: “The arrival of Alaska Airlines’ new Seattle service brings even more options for travelers, whether they’re visiting friends and family or travelling for business. With millions of oneworld customers choosing Heathrow each year, we’re continuing to work together to make every journey better.”
