American Airlines flight diverted mid-air due to ‘possible maintenance issue’
An American Airlines flight was forced to return to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) due to a mid-air emergency.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737-823, took off from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) at 08:49 local time on December 1, 2024, according to data from FlightRadar24. The flight was heading to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas.
At approximately 10:00 local time, the flight returned to its starting point in Chicago after several door warning lights came on.
An American Airlines spokesperson told Fox Business that the flight was redirected because of a “possible maintenance issue”.
“Flight 1047 returned to ORD Airport for a possible maintenance issue,” the spokesperson said. “The flight landed safely and taxied to the gate.”
However, the airline has yet to reveal the cause of the maintenance issue.
There have been no reports of any injuries.
The airline also told Fox Business that passengers had been moved to another aircraft to carry out the flight between Chicago and Las Vegas.
