AURA AERO’s INTEGRAL E battery-powered aircraft performs first flight in France
French electric and hybrid aircraft startup AURA AERO announced that on December 3, 2024, it had successfully performed the first flight of its fully electric INTEGRAL E aircraft. The maiden flight took place at Toulouse-Francazal Airport, France, where AURA AERO is based.
The INTEGRAL E is a two-seater light aircraft designed for training, acrobatics and recreational flight. It is powered by a battery which provides approximately an hour of flight time and can be recharged in under half an hour. According to AURA AERO, INTEGRAL E the operating cost per hour will be half that of other aircraft in the same category powered by combustion engines.
The new electric aircraft builds upon the expertise AURA AERO has developed in building the INTEGRAL R, a thermic propulsion version of the INTEGRAL E, which first flew in 2020. The first deliveries of the latter are expected in early 2025.
While the first flight of the INTEGRAL E is a major milestone for the French startup, its ultimate goal remains the development of a 19-seater hybrid-electric regional airliner called ERA.
Both the INTEGRAL family of light aircraft (the “R” and “E” models and the ERA) are to be produced at a brand-new, environmentally friendly factory AURA AERO will build adjacent to its current HQ at Toulouse-Francazal.
