Avolon orders 15 A330neo and 75 A321neo aircraft from Airbus
Dublin-based lessor Avolon announced that it had placed an order with Airbus for 15 A330-900neo and 75 A321neo aircraft.
With this new order, Avolon’s order book with the European aircraft manufacturer has increased to 79 A330neo and 264 A321neo aircraft.
In a press release announcing the order on July 24, 2025, Avolon’s CEO, Andy Cronin, highlighted that this deal signaled both the company’s strong balance sheet position and its confidence in continued high market demand for aircraft.
The Irish leasing firm has also been expanding its portfolio of aircraft in the secondary market. In January 2025, Avolon acquired 118 aircraft from another lessor, Castlelake Aviation, in a $5 billion deal which brought Avolon’s portfolio well past the 1,100 aircraft mark.
As of July 2025, Avolon has 33 A330neos and 145 A320 family aircraft in its books.
On the same day that it announced the Airbus order, Avolon also posted Q2 2025 financial results, which showed a 35% increase in net income year-on-year to US$143 million. At the close of Q2, Avolon’s aircraft portfolio stood at 1,166 aircraft, including 532 orders and commitments.
The 2025 Aviation Leaders report by KPMG placed Avolon in third spot in the global ranking of the largest aircraft leasing companies (by number of aircraft already delivered and under management), in close competition with the fourth-largest, Steven Udvar-Hazy’s Air Lease Corporation.
