BA introduces its new airline loyalty program ‘The British Airways Club’
BA has introduced its new loyalty program that will replace the British Airways Executive Club and offer customers new ways to earn points.
In the major revamp announced on December 30, 2024, the new loyalty program will be renamed the ‘The British Airways Club’ with members able to earn ‘Tier Points’ on co-brand credit cards and when paying for extras such as seat selection and additional baggage.
The British Airways Club will commence from April 1, 2025, with a new Tier Point system that breaks from the traditions of the British Airways Executive Club.
Under the new program from April 2025 members will earn Tier Points based on the cost of their flight and, for the first time, for ancillary spending including seat selection and excess baggage. Members will also be able to build Tier Points when purchasing British Airways Holidays
Then later in 2025, BA American Express Premium Plus Cardmembers will be able to earn up to 2,500 Tier Points by spending on their card and more frequent milestone rewards will be introduced.
“The changes we have announced today underline our continued investment in our loyalty programme and in our customers. Based on our Members’ feedback, we’ve built on the changes we’ve already made – including how customers collect Avios and their membership year – in a way that we believe better rewards their loyalty and reflects their changing travel needs,” said Colm Lacy, British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer.
To reach Bronze status members will need to earn 3,500 Tier Points, increasing to 7,500 for Silver and 20,000 for Gold.
To reach Gold Guest List members need acquire 65,000 Tier Points with at least 52,000 earned through British Airways-marketed flights, qualifying add-ons, and British Airways Holidays packages.
To retain the top status members will then need to earn 40,000 Tier Points, with at least 32,000 earned through British Airways-marketed flights, qualifying add-ons, and British Airways Holiday packages.
Members will earn one Tier Point for every £1 ($1.25) of eligible spend.
