Bangkok Airways considers Boeing, Airbus and Embraer for fleet renewal plans
Regional Thai operator Bangkok Airways is considering Boeing, Airbus and Embraer as part of fleet renewal plans over the next four to five years, according to Bloomberg.
On March 18, 2025, Bloomberg reported that the Bangkok Airways CEO Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth announced that the airline was in the market for up to 30 narrowbody aircraft.
In an interview, Prasarttong-Osoth told the global news outlet that he plans to open discussions with Boeing, Airbus and Embraer for at least 20 aircraft, while the options for 10 more further down the line.
The process is part of plans to renew the existing Bangkok Airways fleet while also responding to a large increase in tourists visiting Thailand.
The airline is also reportedly considering leasing aircraft to fulfil its fleet renewal objectives
“We need to grow, and a new aircraft fleet would be mandatory,” said Prasarttong-Osoth.
According to ch-aviation, Bangkok Airways currently has a fleet of 25 aircraft, including 12 Airbus A319-100s and 10 ATR 72-600s.
With its main base in Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Bangkok Airways operates between the Thai capital and some of the country’s most popular tourist destinations such as Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai.
The carrier also flies to international tourist hotspots, including Siem Reap in Cambodia, Da Nang in Vietnam and Hong Kong.
