Boeing and Korean Air announce order of up to 50 widebody aircraft
Boeing and Korean Air unveiled the airline’s plan to purchase up to 50 of Boeing’s widebody aircraft.
The deal, which was announced on the first day of the 2024 edition of the Farnborough International Airshow, includes 20 777-9s and 20 787-10s, with options for an additional 10 of the largest 787 Dreamliner variant.
“The addition of the Boeing 777-9 and 787-10 aircraft marks a significant milestone in our strategic objective to expand and upgrade our fleet,” said Walter Cho, Chairman and CEO of Korean Air.
Korean Air’s selection of 777-9 and 787-10 supports its strategy to serve high-demand markets in Europe and North America and popular routes within Asia. This move comes as the airline prepares for its anticipated merger with Asiana Airlines.

(Source: Boeing)“Boeing airplanes have played an integral role with Korean Air over the past 50 years, and the 777X and 787 Dreamliner will continue to support the airline’s long-term goals for sustainability and continued growth,” Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplane, noted.
As Boeing pointed out, Korean Air’s Aerospace Division supplies components for the 787 program, including the model’s unique raked wingtip, and produces parts for other Boeing airplanes, such as the 737 MAX, 767, and 777.
