Boeing in talks with China over order for up 500 aircraft: Bloomberg
Boeing is in talks with China over a possible order for up to 500 commercial aircraft, in what would be a significant win for the US firm in an important market, Bloomberg claims.
According to the news publication, Boeing and China are currently negotiating terms for the order, including aircraft type, number of jets and delivery timeframes.
Citing a source familiar with the talks on August 21, 2025, Bloomberg claimed the deal was dependent on the easing of tariff tensions between US and China.
Domestic airlines are said to be relaying specifics to Chinese negotiators regarding how many Boeing aircraft they require.
News that Chinese airlines were preparing an order for up to 500 Airbus aircraft has also been recently reported by Bloomberg.
In May 2025, US President Donald Trump played a leading hand in securing Boeing orders from Middle Eastern countries.
During a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Etihad agreed to purchase a mix of Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 777Xs, powered by GE Aerospace engines.
On the same trip, Qatar Airways completed the largest-ever Boeing widebody order, purchasing 130 787 Dreamliners and 30 777-9s, with options for 50 more aircraft.
In July 2025, an agreement with Indonesia was also signed that included 50 Boeing jets, many of them 777s.
