Boeing, WestJet ink record deal for 67 jets, doubling Dreamliner fleet
Boeing and WestJet have announced the Canadian carrier’s largest-ever aircraft order, securing 67 new jets as part of a major fleet renewal and expansion strategy.
The deal, revealed on September 3, 2025, includes 60 737-10s with options for 25 more, as well as seven 787-9 Dreamliners with options for an additional four. This order brings WestJet’s firm Boeing backlog to 123 aircraft.
“With the addition of these aircraft, WestJet has the largest order book of any airline in Canada, and will double our fleet of Dreamliners,” said Alexis von Hoensbroech, WestJet CEO. “These highly efficient and comfortable aircraft are critical to the growth and renewal of our fleet and will also significantly improve our fuel consumption.”
The Calgary-based airline plans to use the expanded 787 fleet to bolster its international network, particularly to destinations in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. The new 737-10s will strengthen its domestic and transborder operations, offering more seats at the lowest cost per seat of any single-aisle aircraft.
Boeing highlighted the milestone as a continuation of its three-decade partnership with WestJet, which started back in 1996 with just three 737s.
“We are honored that WestJet has once again placed its trust in Boeing,” said Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “This investment solidifies their fleet for decades ahead as they grow their network and serve even more passengers.”
According to the airline, WestJet currently operates one of the youngest fleets among major North American carriers, with an average age of around 10 years. The company said the fleet expansion supports its strategy to provide affordable travel, add more international connections, and improve operational efficiency. The post Boeing, WestJet ink record deal for 67 jets, doubling Dreamliner fleet appeared first on AeroTime.
