Book. « Les Pilotes d’essais dans l’après-guerre »
Here’s a book that pays tribute to the courageous men and women who helped France’s aeronautics industry recover from the Second World War.
A book that will delight nostalgic fans and others wishing to learn more about a pivotal period in aeronautics, which saw the rise of Dassault Aviation!
At the end of the Second World War, French aviation was not at its best, but the “Trente Glorieuses” were to be the period of its brilliant recovery! The result was a host of innovations of all kinds. These included the turbojet, ramjet and fan wing, supersonic flight in both military and civil aviation, very high altitude flight, in-flight refueling and more. In other words, some sixty test pilots (from the Flight Test Center or the workshops of manufacturers such as Dassault) who contributed to France’s emergence as a world power in aeronautics.
While the contributions of post-1945 French aircraft manufacturers to this boom are undisputed, the contribution of the pilots (military or civilian) who made these innovations possible was perhaps sometimes overlooked. This book pays tribute to their daring, their devotion and their true exploits!
