British Airways adds three new routes to short-haul network from London
British Airways is expanding its short-haul network with three brand-new additions to its route map from London-Gatwick Airport (LGW). Operated by its European subsidiary, BA Euroflyer, the new routes to Rabat in Morocco and Graz in Austria will begin later in 2025, offering two new destinations for the northern winter season. Additionally, flights between London-City Airport (LCY) and Madrid will begin, offering more connections to the long-haul network of Iberia, the carrier’s IAG-owned sister airline.
Based at London-Gatwick Airport, BA Euroflyer is a wholly owned subsidiary of British Airways. Across summer and winter schedules, it offers more than 40 short-haul destinations using a dedicated fleet of 14 Airbus A320s and 11 A321s. BA Cityflyer, also a subsidiary of British Airways, flies primarily from London-City Airport during the week to up to 18 short-haul destinations across Europe this winter. It operates a fleet of 21 Embraer 190 aircraft.

Alongside Marrakech and Agadir, Rabat will become the third destination in Morocco served by the carrier. According to Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism, the country has set a new tourism record, welcoming 1.3 million more visitors than the same period in 2024. This represents a 68% increase compared to 2019, an increase from which the UK airline is looking to benefit. Flights to Rabat-Sale Airport (RBA) serving the Moroccan capital will operate twice per week on Wednesdays and Sundays, using an Airbus A320 from London Gatwick. The service begins on November 5, 2025.
“Rabat is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, architecture, and distinctive blend of tradition and modernity. As a destination offering warm weather year-round, it’s ideal for travellers seeking sunshine closer to home,” said an airline statement.
GCMap.comMeryem Bennouna, Director at the Moroccan National Tourist Office for the UK, Ireland and the Nordics, said, “The launch of British Airways flights between London and Rabat, the capital of two historically linked kingdoms, sends a powerful message to the rest of the world about the increasing touristic appeal of Morocco to Brits and the strong diplomatic relations between the two countries.”
Karen Hilton, Managing Director of BA Euroflyer, added, “With its year-round warm weather, Morocco is ideal for those seeking an off-season escape without a lengthy flight time. The addition of Rabat means we now fly to three fantastic destinations in Morocco – an excellent choice for families, couples, and friends alike.”
Heading to Graz
The launch of Graz brings British Airways’ Austrian destinations to four, joining Vienna, Salzburg, and Innsbruck. This new route marks a significant expansion, as there are currently no other direct flights operating between London and Graz.
“With Austria’s recent win at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 and the country set to host the next edition, Austria is poised to take centre stage on the international music scene in the coming year,” said the BA statement. “The addition of Graz not only improves connectivity but also offers travellers even more opportunities to explore Austria.”
GCMap.com“Graz is known for having some of the finest Christmas markets in Austria, and in the summer, it offers a variety of experiences, including outdoor activities and scenic beauty, making it an ideal city break destination all year round,” the statement added. Flights to Graz will operate three times per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, using the Airbus A320 fleet from London Gatwick. The service begins on November 21, 2025.
“We’re excited to further strengthen our connectivity between London and Austria with the addition of Graz,” said Hilton. “We will be the only direct operation between the two cities, offering more choice to our customers, whether it’s for business, leisure, or visiting friends and family.”

The last of the three new routes will see BA Cityflyer operate 11 weekly flights to the Spanish capital from London-City Airport, bringing the weekly total up to 44 alongside the existing London-Heathrow (LHR) to Madrid service. According to BA, the timings of both the inbound and outbound flights have been optimised for those customers wishing to connect onto other services from Madrid, particularly South American destinations, including Bogotá, Montevideo, and Lima, operated by IAG partner airline Iberia.
